"I Want You Back" is one of the best records of all time. Nothing much else matters.

For anyone thinking of voting for the Conservative party, please note that you would be voting for people who think The Apprentice is a serious programme about the business world.

In the upcoming elections in the UK, the far-right party the BNP are pushing for an unprecedented number of seats, and are possibly going to win some of them. They need 8% of the vote. This means that the more people that vote in the elections, the less chance the fascist BNP have of getting in.

Please make sure you are registered for the June 4th elections.
Please vote - for any party, except the BNP.
Please don't let them get in because of apathy.

Here is some information about Nick Griffin, the leader of the party - http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/the-real-bnp/Profile-of-Nick-Griffin.php

Here is some more information on the BNP - http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/the-real-bnp/

Some of you have LJ's and other blogs that are read by a lot of people. Please - it takes a few minutes only to just copy and paste this post into your own blog and make sure the message gets out. It doesn't take long to vote, and I'm not asking you to vote for any particular party that you might not have a high opinion of at the moment. Just vote for someone and stop the BNP.

Dad's Army

I'm just watching the end of the Dad's Army film.  Overall, it's perhaps not as good as the series - Perry and Croft certainly thought this - but the last ten minutes say everything you ever needed to know about the character of Captain George Mainwaring.  Mainwaring is a pompous, incompetent buffoon.  But Jimmy Perry and David Croft's genius was that, instead of making him a pompous, incompetent cowardly buffoon, which would have been the obvious option, they made him a pompous, incompetent buffoon with the courage of a lion.  That, in the end, is why his men are extremely loyal - for all their criticism, they admire his bravery enormously.  And to me, this is encapsulated in the scene in the church hall where he is in a Mexican standoff with a German pilot, armed only with a revolver which, it later transpires, he knows isn't actually loaded.  And yet he does it, and never flinches for a moment.  And that is why, for me, George Mainwaring is one of the great comedy characters.
